[발표자] Javier Auyero (University of Texas, Austin)

Javier Auyero is the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long Professor in Latin American Sociology at the University of Texas-Austin. Prof. Auyero writes and teaches about urban poverty, ethnography, and collective violence. He is the author of numerous award-winning books including Poor People’s Politics, In Harm’s Way, Routine Politics and Violence in Argentina, and Flammable: Environmental Suffering in an Argentine Shantytown. He is the founder of the Urban Ethnography Lab at UT-Austin.

How to make the experiences of the marginalized visible? How to counteract misrepresentations of the urban poor? How to comprehend the forms and effects of symbolic domination among the most vulnerable? This talk reflects on two decades of fieldwork in relegated urban territories and provides an outline of a political ethnography of urban marginality.
