Fabrication of three-dimensional (3D) micro/nanostructure stands vital challenge in lab on a chip system and MEMS applications. Self-rolled-up nanotechnology can make 3D micro/nanoscale rolled-up structure from 2D nanomembranes by selectively etching the sacrificial layer. Such compatible fabrication method with microelectronics process for tubular structures offers great potential in optical and electrical sensor applications. A self-rolled-up metallic nanomembrane system is demonstrated to present an unusual response property to hydrogen gas. The high-yield self-rolled-up microtube arrays detection property will also be shown and can be used as non-electrical visual hydrogen detectors.
