Development of flap array-based triboelectric nanogenerator for omni-directional wind monitoring

Professor Jongbaeg Kim's research team in the School of Mechanical Engineering developed a wind-driven triboelectric nanogenerator, and the results of this research were published in the journal 'Nano Energy' in November 2022. In this study, a flap array-based nanogenerator capable of generating vortices as a bluff body and simultaneously performing energy conversion was proposed. In addition, the device could be used as an energy source for a wireless environmental sensor and as a self-powered wind vector monitoring sensor.
