Projects

The Institute of State Governance Studies have been successfully conducted over 60 academic projects on Governance, Government Systems, Political Development and Democracy, Social Integration. Government Systems, etc. Upon those, we are currently conducting academic activities regarding 2 projects below.

Key Research Institute (KRI) Program

In 2008, the Yonsei University Institute of State Governance Studies was selected as a beneficiary of the Key Research Institute Support Program sponsored by the National Research Foundation of Korea. Through this program, we were able to intensively study Korean presidential leadership and state governance until 2017. As part of the process, our institute created the notion of ‘state governance’ based on the concepts of governance and leadership. By gathering historical records and conducting numerous research activities, we been working hard to generalize and diffuse the notion of ‘state governance’ internationally.

Research Project for the Foundation of Korean Studies

The Yonsei University Institute of State Governance Studies is participating in the Research Project for the Foundation of Korean Studies. Through grants from the National Research Foundation of Korea, we are sharing the importance of national intelligence, periodical changes, and distinct Korean characteristics while collecting historical records and conducting relevant research. Joining this program was a significant undertaking since we were able to collect and verify historical data while studying state policies as a means to develop a national intelligence theory that fits a Korean context. As part of a five-year program, we will continue to gather records falling within the period from the Korean Independence Movement to the end of the Cold War in 1990. Based on these materials, we plan to conduct studies that systemize national intelligence theory.
