Enhancement of Supercapacitor performance via Ag nano particle doping and characterization through Density Functional Theory (DFT)



The research team of Professor Seong Chan Jun and Keonwook Kang in the Department of Mechanical Engineering collaborated to develop supercapacitor electrode with high electrical conductivity and cycling stability. This research was published in 'Advanced Functional Materials,' a prestigious academic journal in the field of materials science and engineering, in July 2023 (Impact Factor: 19.0, top 4.2%). In this paper, we improved the factors causing degradation in the electrochemical performance of supercapacitors, such as charge transport and structural stability, by doping Ag nanoparticles into the electrode. The impact of Ag nanoparticle doping on electrochemical properties was elucidated through an analysis of the material's electronic structure using Density Funtional Theory(DFT).
