Development of Estimation Algorithm for Object Surface Normals Using Event Cameras



Professor Jae-Sang Hyun from the Department of Mechanical Engineering partnered with researchers from Korea University's Department of Artificial Intelligence to conduct a study titled "Event fusion photometric stereo network." Their groundbreaking research, which developed an algorithm that integrates event cameras with standard RGB cameras for enhanced dynamic range, enables precise estimation of an object's surface normal vectors even in conditions with ambient lighting. The findings have been published in the journal of 'Neural Networks'on artificial intelligence (Impact Factor: 7.8).
