Ⅲ. Center for Gender Equity

 

Center for Gender Equity was established in 2012 combining Center for Female Students and Center for Sexual Harassment & violence Prevention in light of creating campus culture that recognizes the importance of gender equality. The center is geared toward encouraging students to have career visions in gender-atypical areas with gender-equality sensibility. The Center runs a counselling office to prevent sexual harassment & Violence on campus and intervenes with reported recognized violence in order to generate an atmosphere free of all forms of sexual harassment, exploitation, or intimidation.

 

1. Programs promote gender-sensitivity on campus

 

A. Education on Gender-Based Violence Prevention

The center is committed to providing educational services in order to prevent all forms of Gender-Based Violence (sexual harassment, sexual violence, Prostitution, Domestic Violence) - this includes activities of prevention education, open-classes, online education, and publication.

B. Creating the Culture of Gender-Equity

The center provides various programs in order to create on-campus culture that is friendly to gender-equity. This includes lectures, participatory workshops, and corrective education for offenders.

※ All members are required to complete training courses in sexual violence prevention, sexual harassment prevention, domestic violence prevention, and prostitution prevention. You can take online Gender-based Violence Prevention programs on LearnUs(https://www.learnus.org). If one has completed the violence prevention training program via an outside establishment – another university, for instance – one should submit the certification of completion to the Center for Gender Equity. One’s completion status will then be confirmed by the center.

 

 

2. Counseling Service

The center provides counseling service to anyone who feels her/his rights are violated due to cases of cyber sexual crime, date rape, stalking, and/or sexual harassment. Victims can ask for the counseling service by drop-in, telephone call, and/or e-mail.

A. Dealing with Sexual Misconduct Cases and Victims Protection

The center receives reports on sexual misconduct cases where members of Yonsei University are involved, and also performs investigation into the reported cases in accordance with Yonsei University Sexual Misconduct Prevention and Response Policy.

 

B. Guidelines and Leaflets

The center publishes various guidelines and leaflets to inform and raise awareness of all members of Yonsei University.
