Title : New Opportunities with Solution-Processed Oxide Films for Thin-Film Power Management Applications
Abstract:
The key strengths of thin-film electronics over wafer-based electronics are their large-area compatibility and additive integration capability. These advantageous features can be used to overcome the current barriers facing silicon (Si) electronics. Among thin-film materials, amorphous oxide semiconductor (AOS) is an attractive candidate due to its high carrier mobility, wide band-gap, and in-air deposition capability. In this talk, we present our efforts to push the boundaries of AOS toward novel thin-film power electronics. After developing an air-stable, ink-based deposition process for AOS, we exploit in situ chemical evolution at its metallic interfaces to manipulate the electrode contact properties and form high-quality ohmic and Schottky contacts. Next, we combine these techniques to fabricate high-performance thin-film diodes and Schottky-gated TFTs. Lastly, we demonstrate their potential usage for power management in several application sectors, including RFID tag, monolithic 3D-IC, and solar cell array.
