Oil and Gas are one of the most critical parts of today’s Energy supply and economic growth but very few people know anything about the industry and technologies. Most of the easy-to-access reserves have already been explored. Therefore, there is an increasing need to explore reserves that are in a much more aggressive and harsher environment. This brings many new design and operation challenges in terms of the reliability and safety of the equipment. This talk will introduce the upstream oil and gas industry and some of the key technical challenges. A general overview of oil discovery, production methods, and the life cycle of an oil well will be discussed.

The second part of the seminar will focus on some helpful and practical tips and advice on developing and advancing professionals' careers in today’s global job market. There are some major differences between Korean and American work cultures and in order to advance in the global market, one has to understand the differences and prepare accordingly. Based on the speaker's 20 years of professional experience in a major international company, some simple yet extremely effective tools will be discussed.
